Who Touched My Clothes?

Mark 5:25-34

   Have you experienced spending much money for a certain cause?

   Many of us tried to save money to buy celfones, gadgets and things we need. We also spend much of our allowance to go online (facebook, DOTA, etc.)
   
   Some of us don’t mind spending much to get beautiful (parlor, dress, polo) For these efforts to save and spend we enjoy their benefits.
Yet this certain woman spent all she had and yet didn’t get what she needed. Worse, she ended up suffering.

   She suffered from hemorrhage for almost 12 years and had been looking for cure.  She spent all she had to get healed yet she was frustrated. Imagine the pain of seeing your savings fly by just because of an illness. Feel the discouragement of not getting the healing you’ve been longing to experience.

   News about Jesus reached her and when she heard it, she didn’t hesitate to go with the crowd. She didn’t doubt His power and simply believed that Jesus was able to heal her. This time, she did the ultimate step of faith---she touched Jesus’ clothes. Jesus, feeling that the power came out of Him, looked for the woman and declared healing, peace and freedom.

   Maybe right now you are experiencing a situation seemingly impossible to overcome. You may have a problem in your family or maybe you are having a hard time with one of your subjects. Or you’ve been wondering where you are going to get the money for your tuition fee.

   Worse, for a very long time you’ve been asking God to heal you. You’ve been worried how you might be happy again since your close friend left you.

   Due to these things we end up tired, and some of us do the best that we can yet nothing happens. We end up down and hopeless.

   What gave the woman hope? It was Jesus. She heard about Him--that He works miracles and He is able to heal. She believed right away that He is able.

   You need not lose hope because you have Jesus. If you know Him, you will trust Him. In which area in your life do you need to trust Him?

   Don’t limit what God can do cause He has got all the power to heal, free and restore you. He gives provision, wisdom or strength to those who ask Him. Mind you, He has got a lot to give. He has got the ability and willingness to meet your every need. Some people are willing to help us just like the doctors who tried to heal her, yet they have limitations. God is able, all we need is to tap into His power. Just like the woman who reached out and touched Jesus’ clothes, we need to make a step of faith as well.

   When Jesus felt the power had gone out from Him, He tried to find the one who tapped into it. Our act of faith catches God’s attention . Faith paves the way for God’s power to move in your life. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been suffering or how big the problem is; His power flows to those who reach out to Him in faith.

Fun-filled Weekend in Manila

It's been a long time since I relaxed after a week's work. I went to Manila this October 18 and invited my friends who are studying there to accompany me in my unwinding purpose.

MUSEUM VISIT

Since October is Museum Month, National Museum offered free entrance to willing visitors. Jen, Jireh, Elaine and I visited its two departments: the Art Gallery and the Museum for the Filipino People. We were amazed with the works we saw there: the paintings, writings, sculptures and replicas of stuffs having to do with our country. We saw the original works of our heroes and national artists. The 'feel' of being alive and involved during the centuries then was exciting.

LUNETA TRIP

Rediscovering Luneta Park was fun! It has been decades since I've been here. I actually forgot how it looked like. We stalled for an hour at Dr. Jose Rizal's Shrine. Right then he became significant for me, having taught his 'Life, Works and Writings' among college students. His heart-rending life ending made a mark in my mind. I remembered what our national hero went through as I gazed upon his epitaph.

The professional park photographers also caught our attention. We noticed that they don't earn much these days due to the popularity and affordability of digital cameras. While exiting the park through its vicinities, Kath called on of them that we may have a souvenir shot upon the colorful fountains. What happened was unforgettable. Read on.

Kuya seemed to look enthusiastic while clicking on the camera. He did multiple shots. But our original transaction included two copies of a shot. When we're done, he insisted that we would have 4 copies of his shots. When we refused his pressuring offer his attitude changed. 'Tubong lugaw na lang 'to', he said. We followed him into the studio. While our photos were being printed he was murmuring negative things about us, ordering the computer operator to erase our photos afterwards before they might cause them 'bad luck.' We were quiet then, asking each other how to respond to him.

"Kuya, baka kaya hindi kayo kumikita eh ang sungit n'yo sa mga customers nyo," I uttered. Kuya was silenced a bit. Upon leaving the studio, we thanked him.

While travelling home we could not help but talk about what happened to us. What a memorable adventure.

4H Club of Santa Maria, Laguna Holds a Youth Leadership Summit in Brgy. Coralan

The 4H Club of Santa Maria, Laguna held a Youth Leadership Summit titled 'HD (High Definition) Leadership' last October 5, 2013 at Canaan Retreat Center in Brgy. Coralan, Santa Maria, Laguna. Young delegates from eight different baranggays joined the event.

The training aimed to instill the importance of possessing leadership values among the participants. The talks, team building activities and workshops helped developed their heads, hearts and hands pertaining to the said topic.

Jaro Novero and Christopher Narvadez facilitated the morning talk. They defined what vision and mission are and gave helpful guidelines in finding their roots and achieving their fruits. In the afternoon, JM Olarte, a DSWD Municipal Link of Kalayaan led a workshop regarding Leadership in the Family. During the session, they discussed the issues being faced by the young people in their families. Anadae Angeles headed the workshop about Leadership in the Campus, while Khristine Pujanes oriented the attendees about the vision, mission and activities of 4H Club.

UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS
I enjoyed the time with the delegates, the picture-taking time with them, the lunch on banana leaves and more importantly, the values I learned during the talks. The venue provided a relaxing atmosphere for the above activities to be held. The panoramic mountains, rice fields, unusual plants, playful animals and great facilities paved room for fun and excitement.

I'd like to acknowledge the people behind the event such as Mayor Cindy Carolino, who approved the letter to be sent to the Barangay Captains in SML, Kon. Edward Requitud, who gave his moral and financial support so that the event may be held successfully, Mam Lorna Alban and Ate Aning Selda of the Municipal Agricultural Office and the 4H Club Officers.
